Malaysia have just added to their gold medal coffers after beating India in the mixed team event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
INDOSPORT.COM – Malaysia have just replenished their gold medal coffers after beating India in the mixed team event at Commonwealth Games 2022.
As is known, a number of athletes from several British Commonwealth countries are currently taking part in a multiple event titled Commonwealth Games 2022.
Malaysia became one of the participating countries in the great sports festival which took place in Birmingham, England from July 28, 2022 to August 8, 2022.
The team from the neighboring country have just won their third gold medal, after the men’s team won the championship on Wednesday (03/08/22).
In the final round match which took place at the National Exhibition Center (NEC), Malaysia was able to show skill by defeating India.
Malaysia won the title from India, who were the defending champions, with a final score of 3-1 in the mixed team final.
The first victory was taken by Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik with a score of 21-18 and 21-15 over India’s top men’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty.
India equalized as PV Sindhu beat Malaysian women’s singles Goh Jin Wei 22-20, 21-17.
However, Malaysia managed to fight back with two wins as Ng Tze Yong opened the scoring again.
Ng Tze Yong managed to win through rubber games with a score of 21-19, 6-21 and 21-16 against Srikanth Kidambi, and Malaysia’s current score is 2-1 against India in the 2022 Commonwealth Games mixed team final.
