Foreign workers remitted Rs 2.69 billion in the first three quarters of 2022. A year earlier, Bangladeshis remitted Rs 2.53 billion in the same period, according to data released by the Bank of Mauritius.
Bangladeshis, Indians and Malagasy top the list
The total remittances sent by foreign workers throughout 2019 amounted to IDR 7.11 billion. The amount for the first nine months of 2022 is Rs 6.47 billion.

Mauritians working abroad remitted Rs 2.09 billion during the first three quarters of 2022. France, the United States and the United Kingdom dominate the ranking of countries from which these funds originate.
