Queen Máxima of India in view of the country’s presidency at the head of the G20

Queen Máxima returned to India on 29 and 30 August. No doubt playing a tourist in this country he has visited several times. The Queen of the Netherlands has a very serious program to honor. His visit was part of his stint as Special Advocate for the United Nations Secretary-General for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA).

Queen Máxima wants to secure a place for financial inclusion at the next G20

Queen Máxima last visited India with King Willem-Alexander in October 2019, during a five-day state visit. Queen Máxima arrived in New Delhi on Monday, August 29, 2022, and will stay there until Tuesday. His visit this time was in his capacity as the Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA). He has visited India in 2014 and 2018 as part of his function as a special advocate for the United Nations.

In addition, Ratu Máxima is also the Honorary Chair of the G20 Global Partnership for Inclusive Financing (GPFI). India will replace Indonesia as chair of the G20 from 1 December 2022. Arriving in New Delhi, Queen Máxima is welcomed by Droupadi Murmu, the newly inaugurated President of India, from 25 July 2022.

Ratu Máxima then spoke with the Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman. The Queen also held an online meeting with Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das.

During this two-day visit, the queen will also meet the G20 Sherpa, Amitabh Kant. The talks focused on how India wants to shape the G20 agenda for financial inclusion and the digital economy. In a meeting with representatives of the public and private sectors, Ratu Máxima will talk about the development of digital public infrastructure such as secure biometric identity cards, good telecommunications connections, secure digital payments, data management and privacy.
