Badminton News: Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu lifts the Singapore Open World Tour Super 500 badminton tournament trophy after defeating young Chinese player Wang Zhi Yi in an intense women’s singles final at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Sunday (17 /7) local noon time.
In a dramatic title battle, former world champion PV Sindhu managed to stay strong at crucial moments to beat 22-year-old Wang, the 2022 Asian Championship gold medalist. was 21-9 11-21 and 21-15 for the advantage of the Indian player.
The 27-year-old from Hyderabad enters the game with a 1-0 lead over Wang, having beaten the Chinese in their only meeting at the prestigious All England Championship this year.
Sindhu put on another great display to clinch his third World Tour title of the season.
The field plays a major role in the match with drifts in the room which complicate the life of the players. Wang’s decision to choose a team puts him in an advantageous position as he plays against the grain after a late final substitution.
