Malaysian Embassy Clarifies Reports of 149 TKIs Killed in Immigration Detention
The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta has clarified reports that 149 Indonesian migrant workers died at the Sabah Immigrant Detention Center (DTI).
Through a social media statement on Tuesday (6/28), the Malaysian Embassy confirmed that not all 149 workers are Indonesian citizens.
“[Angka] 149 is the total number of foreign nationals (foreigners) who died from 2021 to June 2022,” the Malaysian Embassy said in a statement.
Russia Withdraws Troops From Snake Island: Good Will For Ukrainian Exports
Russia withdrew its troops from Snake Island, Ukraine today, Thursday (6/30). They said the troop withdrawal was a symbol of good faith so that Ukraine could export agricultural products.
“On June 30, in good faith, the Russian armed forces completed their work on Snake Island and withdrew the garrison there,” the statement said. AFP.

Hong Kong residents have complained that too many Chinese flags were placed in dozens of homes to welcome President Xi Jinping’s arrival to the region on Thursday (6/30).
Tony Chan, a plantation worker, thinks Xi Jinping’s welcome is overdone because almost all of the building’s exterior stairs are filled with small flags that symbolize the country of China.
