Badminton News: India National Badminton Team Head Coach Pullela Gopichand believes that India is ready to host the Olympics in the future. The famous badminton coach compared this to how the government of Gujarat stepped in to host the 36th National Games.
Pullela Gopichand said that if the state can host a major event in a short period of time, it is likely that the country will also host the Olympics. Speaking on Gujarat’s #GoForGujarat initiative ahead of the National Games, Gopichand said:
“If we can hold an event with 20,000 people in a grand way in Gujarat, I think we can also host the Olympics, which only has 11,000 people.”
Pullela Gopichand then praised the planned large-scale organization of the National Games.
“I am very happy that after seven years the National Olympics are taking place in Gujarat and I would like to congratulate the central government as well as the state governments for such a large scale organization for the Olympics,” the winner said. Dronacharya.
Gopichand hails growth of sport in India
Pullela Gopichand said the growth of Indian sports has been at an unprecedented pace. He hailed the emergence of new leagues and tournaments such as Fit India and Khelo India as well as government support and development of sports and infrastructure for growth.
Gopichand advised competing players to focus on diet, fitness and a positive attitude.
“Concentration is key, especially in the last three or four days before the finish. Athletes need to eat well, sleep well and always think positive,” concluded the winner of the prestigious 2001 All England Championship.
