Just after being named captain of the Australian women’s cricket team, Alyssa Healy made a controversial statement that will not go down well in India. The Australian women’s team is set to face India in the one-off Test in Mumbai and Healy believes her spinners will be at their best if the hosts field spin-friendly wickets.
“I’m very interested to see what kind of wicket they prepare,” Healy told the Sydney Morning Herald. “I think we have a very good pivot attack. So do it at your own risk. Make no mistake, the Indians also have a strong rotation attack.
“But I mean, we have some of the best runners in the world. We have Ash Gardener, who scored nine goals on English soil, ball in hand. So yes, prepare for the revolving door of your own death.
“It will be interesting to see if they make things nice and consistent.” But I don’t play Wankhede [Stadium] since an IPL exhibition match a few years ago, so I was excited for the experience.
The Australian team has four spinners in their 16-man squad, including Gardner, left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen, Alan King and Georgia Wareham.
On the other hand, Healy was almost knocked out of the Indian series due to a serious injury he suffered while separating his two dogs. ” Everything went very well. I’ve scored some more goals in the last week and a half, so I’m on track to go to India for a big series there.
