Pravasi Samwad, a leading media company catering to the needs of the Indian diaspora, is focused on expanding business ties between Nigeria and India.
Through Indian-owned companies in Nigeria, the company promotes investment opportunities and strengthens growth in Nigeria and also perfects plans to celebrate the outstanding achievements of organizations doing so in Nigeria.
To this end, it will host a first-ever Pravasi Samwad Investor Meet and Excellence Awards in Nigeria next May, dedicated to the Indian diaspora and the Nigerian community.
Kaushalendra Singh, editor and publisher of Pravasi Samwad, said the aim is to recognize the struggles and success of members of the Indian diaspora, adding that this will help build a global connect with the Indian diaspora.
Addressing a press conference in Lagos, Singh said the event was an important milestone in promoting investment opportunities and strengthening bilateral business ties between India, the Middle East and Nigeria.
According to him, Indians are the most vibrant community in the world with a strong presence of 32 million non-resident Indians, an almost equal number of people of Indian origin and foreign citizens of India.
He described it as a testament to the robust diplomatic and business ties between India and Nigeria.
“With a focus on facilitating investment discussions and encouraging collaboration, the Pravasi Investor Meet and Excellence Awards is poised to be a catalyst for increased investment and stronger business relationships between participating nations.
“Categories will be considered for the award ceremony while there will be a dedicated website called Pravasi Excellence Awards where one can register or nominate themselves or others for the award and attend the investor meet,” he said.
Singh announced that he had launched a Nigeria edition of Pravasi Samwad to highlight the struggles and successes of the Indian diaspora in Nigeria.
Diwesh Mishra, Head of Africa Region, Pravasi Samwad, said the event aims to bring together potential investors from India, the Middle East and other parts of the world on a single platform and is an exceptional opportunity for networking, collaboration and investment exploration to offer perspectives in Nigeria.
He said the event would also provide an opportunity to facilitate investment in Nigeria and increase global perception of the country as a business and tourist destination.
“A lot has happened in the business sector in Nigeria. It needs the right direction and acceptance in the global business world. This event is an attempt to promote business opportunities in the country,” said Mishra.
For her part, Bhavna Batra, Founder and CEO of Synerggie, said the event will include discussions to promote collaboration and recognize outstanding contributions from companies in Nigeria, especially those that impact the Indian community.
“The event will be attended by investors from India and the Middle East as well as corporate representatives, government officials and key stakeholders,” she said.
Apata Samson Nunayon, Managing Director, Eko Destination Limited, said the event will further enhance knowledge sharing between Indian and Nigerian companies to create a dynamic synergy that drives businesses forward.
