Denpasar (ANTARA) – The Association of Indonesian Engineers (PII) has initiated the formation of Engineering20 (E20) so that it can be designated as a new dialogue forum (engagement group) in the G20 Presidency.

“We have agreed to support the G20 event, to form a platform or collaboration that essentially seeks solutions to the problems facing the world,” PII President Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga told Badung Regency on Thursday. .

Danis Hidayat passed it on after the signing of the Declaration/Communiqué on the initiation of Engineering20 (E20) training which was also attended directly by delegates from the engineering union of Japan, Malaysia and India and followed online by representatives of other countries. .

The E20 will serve as a collaborative platform for engineers from G20 countries to produce practical solutions to global challenges. This E20 initiative was launched in early 2022 and PII disseminated it through the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and also hosted a series of international webinars featuring engineers from G20 member countries as as resource persons.

Previously, on October 25, 2022, the E20 Pre-Summit meeting was also held as a forum for the formulation of the draft E20 Declaration/Communique.

“We (the engineers) are really trying to solve global problems, such as those related to the green economy, digital transformation, health problems and, above all, those related to food safety,” he said. he declares.

“It turns out that we have to realize that the role of engineers is very decisive. Therefore, we agree on how engineers can lead or exercise leadership in addressing the problems facing the world, which , ultimately benefits the world,” he said.

However, underlined Danis Hidayat, the most important thing to do to achieve these goals must be done together or in collaboration. Indonesia’s initiative to establish Engineering20 (E20) is expected to be presented to the G20 Presidency on November 15-16.

He hoped that he would be allowed and given time to deliver the E20 statement directly to President Joko Widodo as well as the Prime Minister of India during Indonesia’s G20 Presidency.

He added that the E20’s pioneering struggle to establish a new forum for dialogue since the G20 presidency has yet to be endorsed by all engineering associations in other G20 countries. The Indian Engineers Association (Institution of Engineers India) has also expressed its commitment to continue this E20 initiative during the period of India’s G20 Presidency in 2023 and will invite 13 other engineering associations from G20 countries to provide immediate support.
