Jakarta (ANTARA) – Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Sports Association (PB Perbakin), Joni Supriyanto, has revealed various measures to improve shooting sports achievements in Indonesia.
The first is physical rehabilitation. Perbakin is currently intensively constructing various world-class facilities such as the construction of 10-meter, 25-meter and 50-meter pitches, as well as final room in various areas including the Senayan Shooting Range, Jakarta.
“We are also preparing the latest shooting gear and equipment and constructing facilities for the athletes’ mess and other support facilities,” Joni said at Shooting Field, Jakarta on Wednesday.
The second step is coaching and training. Currently, PB Perbakin encourages 135 athletes from 34 provinces. Then also 25 professional coaches and staff members, and five foreign coaches from Korea, Iran and India.
The third step, increase competition. Every month, at least one shooting championship is organized, whether on target, reaction or hunting. “In addition, we regularly send Indonesian athletes to regional and international competitions,” Joni said.
From this series of efforts, Joni hopes that Indonesia’s shooting achievements will continue to increase. Shooting is one of the flagship sports of the National Sports Grand Design (DBON).
With proper coaching planning, Indonesia’s shooting sports achievements have been proven to increase. For example during the last two editions of the SEA Games. At the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, shooting won seven gold, three silver and two bronze.
Then improved at the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam this year with eight gold, six silver and two bronze. Also, at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta-Palembang, shooting brought home a silver medal.
The highlight of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo last year was placing an Indonesian representative, namely Vidya Rafika Toyyiba. Not yet, single event. Indonesia, which regularly sends athletes to various international events, is reaping proud achievements.
For example, at the Asian level, Indonesia managed to win two gold medals, one silver and four bronze at the 2019 Australasia Handgun Championship. Then won a bronze medal at the ISSF World Cup Rifle & Pistol in India in 2021. In the same year, at the Asian Airgun Championship in Kazakhstan, the red and white team won five gold and three silver medals.
This year Indonesia also had great success hosting the ISSF Rifle & Pistol Grand Prix in Jakarta becoming the overall champion after winning six gold, eight silver and two bronze in the competition. . This feat continued by winning three silver medals and one bronze at the 2022 Thailand Open Championship.
Not only in Asia, Perbakin also sent a number of athletes to the championships that were held in Europe. In 2021, at the Hungarian Open, Indonesia won one gold, one silver and one bronze. In the same year, Indonesia also participated in the ISSF Rifle Pistol Shootgun World Cup in Croatia and was able to become a finalist. This year, silver was successfully won at the 2022 Mobile Target World Championship.

From Africa, Indonesia is also a 2022 ISSF Pistol Rifle World Cup finalist in Egypt. Joni said Perbakin will continue to send athletes to various international championships to improve the experience and achievements of Indonesian shooters.
“We will be hosting the ISSF Rifle Pistol & Shotgun World Cup in 2023. In addition, we are also aiming to medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, and of course a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics,” Joni concluded.
