PBNU will celebrate the summit of Harlah 1 Century Nahdlatul Ulama in East Java
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) General Chairman of the Board, Yahya Cholil Staquf at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta on Monday (01/02/2022).
During the meeting, Yahya invited the president Jokowi to attend the 1 Century Birthday event Nahdlatul Ulama which will be held in Sidoarjo, East Java, and which will be attended by scholars from various countries.
According to him, Jokowi will also participate in the event. “God willing, at the height of the commemoration, we will hold a grand reception at the Delta Sports Building in Sidoarjo and God willing, no less than a million members of Nahdlatul Ulama, their clerics, even scholars from various countries around the world who God willing will also attend the event,” said Gus Yahya, the nickname of the PBNU chairman.
In addition, Yahya also shared the follow-up to the activities of the G20 Religion of the Twenty or R20 which were held in November 2022.
“We reported to the President on the success of the R20 activity in Bali, which last month we continued to follow its developments, including strengthening relations with religious leaders and the Indian government. Hopefully next year, the R20 can also be conducted in India under the leadership of the Indian Presidency within the G20,” Gus Yahya said.
President Jokowi also asked Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) to consolidate intensely in the exercise of his functions and to meet the challenges.
Gus Yahya said that NU is ready to serve and build better relationships with the community.
“The President has given instructions to Nahdlatul Ulama to really carry out intensive consolidation down to the base because in the future we will have a lot of tasks and challenges that we will have to face,” Gus said. Yahya.
State Minister Pratikno and Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas also accompanied the President during the meeting.
