Passing PSE registration deadline, Google Cs will be penalized by Kominfo

Jakarta, Gizmology – Until the deadline that has been set, no names of Google and the popular platform YouTube are registered with the private electronic system operator (PES). Accordingly, the Ministry of Communication and Information will impose sanctions on unregistered technology platforms.

Based on Regulation No. 5 of 2020 of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology regarding Private Range Electronic System (PSE) Operators operating in Indonesia, they must register by July 20, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. The sanctions will be implemented on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

“From the 21st (July) tomorrow we started sending letters, at least it started. Because we really make it easy and we hope the community will really build trust,” said the general manager of applications. of information and communication, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, quoted in a press release, Wednesday (20/7).

The sanction that will be given in the first stage is a written warning. Samuel assured that the government would not immediately block companies that had not registered as PSEs.

Even if there are PES whose access is cut off because they have not registered, according to Semuel, this sanction is temporary. The digital platform must register or update its data with Kominfo.

Global platforms such as Meta with Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram have registered on the PSE Kominfo site. Even during added time, microblogging platform Twitter and video conferencing service Zoom had registered as PSEs operating in Indonesia.

I don’t know what the reason is that Google Cs didn’t immediately register as a foreign PSE at Kominfo. Previously, Google representatives in Indonesia said they would register as a private PSE.

“We are aware of the need to register with relevant regulations and will take appropriate measures to comply with them,” Google’s Indonesia management representative said some time ago.
