(Ecofin Agency) – India and certain countries in the Middle East (Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar) have become emerging centers of international trade. Trade between Africa and the region has increased tenfold in recent years, making them major hubs in global supply chains.
Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), a subsidiary of Chinese shipping company COSCO, has announced the upcoming launch of additional shipping links between India, the Middle East and East Africa.
A new service called East Africa Express 5 (EAX5) will offer according to groups “Direct connection between the Indian subcontinent/Middle East and East Africa, with competitive transit times of 9/14 days from Abu Dhabi/Mundra to Mombasa respectively”.
This offer complements existing slots, specifically EaX1/3/4, with the aim of ” Increase OOCL network coverage in emerging markets The new service is scheduled to start on November 22, 2022, with the ship sailing to the Indian port of Nhava Sheva.
The rotation will follow the route of Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Jebel Ali – Abu Dhabi – Mombasa – Dar es Salaam – Nhava Sheva.
