Indonesian national team and Vietnamese So, the two ASEAN teams that recorded perfect results in September 2022 FIFA Day.
The Indonesian national team won two friendlies against Curaçao on September 24 and 27. The 3-2 and 2-1 wins confirmed that the quality of the Garuda team is improving.
Shin Tae Yong’s cold hands presented an attractive pattern of play in both games. Witan Sulaeman and his friends were able to match Curaçao’s game even though they are far behind in the FIFA rankings.
The goals scored by the Indonesian national team were also produced from a careful process. This victory gave Indonesia extra points to increase their position in the FIFA rankings.
Vietnam also performed well in FIFA Matchday. The Etoile d’Or invites Singapore and India to the agenda of the FIFA calendar.
The team formed by Park Hang Seo silenced Singapore 4-0 and beat India 3-0. Nguyen Quang Hai and his compatriots succeeded clean sheets on FIFA Matchday this time.
On the one hand, the good scores recorded by Indonesia and Vietnam were not presented by the other Southeast Asian teams. The bitter pill has to be swallowed for not getting positive results.
In Myanmar for example, in the two FIFA Matchday matches against Hong Kong, neither match resulted in a win. They lost 0-2 in the first encounter and could only draw 0-0 in the second match.
Similar results were obtained by Singapore. Lion Country lost 0-4 to Vietnam and drew 1-1 against India.
Even worse fate has entered Laos. They lost 1-3 to Maldives and fell 0-1 to Brunei Darussalam. Likewise with Cambodia which lost 0-1 against Bangladesh.
A rather positive realization actually came from Brunei Darussalam. Despite losing 0-3 to Maldives, Brunei managed to rise and beat Laos 1-0.
Meanwhile, two major ASEAN countries like Thailand and Malaysia took part in the 2022 Kings Cup tournament hosted by the Football Association of Thailand. The competition invited countries from other confederations such as Trinidad-Tobago and Tajikistan.
However, the ASEAN representatives could not win the title. Tajikistan won the title after beating Malaysia on penalties. Thailand had already been beaten by Malaysia also on penalties in the 2022 Kings Cup.
