One Pride MMA 69 Special Jogja features Indonesian fighters duel against India

Harianjogja.com, JOGJA– No less than 40 athletes will participate in One Pride MMA to be held on Saturday (10/6/2023). What is special is that Indian KOI Combat Academy fighter Govind Singh will face Asia Southeast Pro Flyyweight fighter Rama Supandhi.

The General Chairman of the Indonesian Martial Sports Committee (KOBI), A. Ardiansyah Bakri, revealed that the presence of this Indian fighter will add experience to the Indonesian fighters. It is also a place to prove that local fighters are capable of competing with foreign fighters.

“The presence of Indian fighters at One Pride MMA should prove that local fighters are capable of competing with foreign fighters,” he said in a press release, Friday, 9/6/2023.

He hopes that this match will be one of the most anticipated matches and can generate public interest, in line with KOBI’s vision and mission to popularize and develop MMA in Indonesia. Including bringing Indonesia’s name to the international stage.

The choice of Jogja as the venue for One Pride MMA was made to attract potential future fighters. Besides the duel between the Indonesian fighters against India, there was a fight for the Lightweight Title Fight class between Angga “The Hitman” from Surakarta against Hanwa “The Smooth” from Kotamobagu. Angga, who successfully defended his lightweight title at the previous One Pride held in Solo, will face Hanwa on a Muay Thai basis this time.

The next no less interesting duel between two tough women who will fight for the title in the Women Strawweight Title Fight category is Dwi Retno “The Reef” of Rembang against Anggie Mandagie “Harley Quinn” of Manado, North Sulawesi. Retno, who has won the title four times, is ready to take on Anggie with a record three wins.

Deputy Regent of Sleman, Danang Maharsa also supports the implementation of One Pride MMA in Jogja. He revealed that before One Pride MMA was held, there was a similar local event. “Actually, it was in 2022. I once organized One Pride but it was local. At that time, there were so many participants (hundreds) that a selection had to take place,” Danang said. .

With One Pride MMA in Jogha, Danang hopes to create local athletes who can compete with the nationals. “And of course it’s an encouragement for Jogja’s friends who have hobbies like this to keep improving their abilities. And I hope Jogja can have national athletes in the years to come,” said he hoped.
