One or 2 months out again, here are 5 advantages of Android 13 over Android 12

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -Since February 2022, Google has been developing Android 13 or Android Tiramisu. The beta version was released in April with various improvisations.

The plan is that Android 13 will be released globally in the fall, or around August-September 2022. So what are the advantages of Android 13 over Android 12?

Last year, Google made major changes in Android 12 or Android Snow Cone, including the “Material You” design that allows users to change the look according to their preferences.

Users have the freedom to choose the color palette display depending on the dominant color of the wallpaper. In addition, Google is also implementing a stricter privacy and security system. The phone will show a “sign” when the app accesses the camera or microphone.

As for some of the advantages of Android 13 over its predecessor, Android 12 includes:

1. More hardware options

Quoted by Android Authority, Material You on Android 13 is designed with more options. The wallpaper-adjusted display color palette is more varied. There are four variants of the newly introduced color scheme, namely Tonal Spot, Vibrant, Expressive and Spritz.

Tonal Spot and Vibrant are similar to the color palette options on Android 12. The last two are different. Expressive seems to rely on colors that don’t come directly from the wallpaper, while SPRITZ is mostly gray and neutral.

In addition to the palette options, the application of wallpaper-based colors to app icons is also improvised. On Android 12, only system apps change color. It is likely that all apps will adjust the color of choice based on user preference on Android 13.

2. More battery saving when using Bluetooth audio

Some of these modern gadgets do not provide a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones or earphones. The option is to use True Wireless Stereo (TWS) or a wireless headset that uses a Bluetooth connection. Unfortunately, using TWS with Bluetooth consumes a lot of cellphone battery power, so it’s wasteful.

On Android 13, Google responded to this complaint by embedding Bluetooth Low Energy Audio or LE Audio technology. This technology uses the Low Complexity Communications Codec (LC3) system. LE Audio promises lower power consumption and improved audio quality on all supported devices.

3. Use a different language for each app

Some users may tend to use two or more languages, also called bilinguals, trilinguals and polyglots. Quoting the Tech Advisor page, on Android 13, users can now apply different languages in each app. For example, the user sets English as the system language and some other applications use Indonesian or other languages. Google calls this feature “Panlingual”.

4. Control the smart home device when the screen is locked

With Android 13, users can control smart home devices when the phone screen is locked. This feature is supposed to make it easier for users without needing to unlock to control smart devices in their home. Android 13 now includes a toggle under the lock screen settings to control smart devices.

A smart home device is a set of home appliances that can be controlled automatically. For example, lights, refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions and others that can be controlled by cell phones. The device has a connection with WiFi or Bluetooth connected to a smartphone.

5. Preview the text copy

For Android users, both on phones and tablets, who frequently use their devices for work, or just to copy text, on Android 13 they can edit the resulting copy before pasting the text. Thus, the user does not need to paste the text and then modify it. Indeed, they can modify after copying via the dialog box that appears when copying text.
