Olectra Greentech Limited, a group company of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL), announced on Wednesday that India’s first 6×4 heavy-duty electric dump truck from its stable has received the country’s first homologation certificate from automotive regulators.
The electric tipper is now ready to drive and meets all Central Motor Vehicle regulations. The first order for 20 electric dump trucks is in the final stages of talks, the company said, adding that the company will soon launch variants of the electric dump truck and electric truck.
“The Olectra E-Tipper is India’s first certified heavy-duty electric tipper designed and manufactured in-house. The first order for 20 electric tippers is in the final stages of talks.
We will soon be launching variants of the e-tipper and the electric truck. “This is just the beginning of our journey,” said Olectra Greentech Chairman and CEO KV Pradeep.
The e-tipper has undergone extensive testing in various conditions to get it ready for Indian roads, including maneuvering in mountainous terrain at high altitudes and in the depths of the earth in mining and quarry pits.
Olectra’s e-tipper can be used on construction sites day and night as it is silent and produces no CO2 emissions, he added.
