Not just Twitter, it’s a row of tech companies that have laid off thousands of employees

Twitter Inc has recently laid off almost all of its employees in India, about 90% of employees have been affected by layoffs (layoffs). It turns out that not only Twitter, other big tech companies have also laid off thousands of employees in recent months.

Meta

Facebook’s parent social media company, Meta, reported a decline in revenue in the quarter this year. The company’s revenue was recorded at $44 billion, down 52% from a year ago.

This decline prompted the company to choose to reduce its workforce, including one in India. Initially, Meta simply stopped recruiting, but the effort didn’t pay off for the company. Until they are finally forced to carry out mass layoffs.

Twitter

On November 4, Elon Musk, as the new owner of Twitter, decided to cut costs and cut its 7,500 employees in half. Nearly 3,700 employees were laid off across all departments.

In India alone, around 180 of its 230 employees have been laid off across content, partnerships, content curation, sales and social marketing teams.

Apple laid off 100 of its contractors last August. After that, Apple also plans not to open job openings first.

This was due to slow sales of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series in China. The company expects the sales decline to continue over the next holiday. As a result, the company tries to save the budget by stopping recruiting.

Microsoft

Microsoft has also confirmed that it has terminated his employment (layoffs). The company recently laid off around 1,000 employees across multiple divisions.

The company said it was reducing its workforce around the world to set business priorities and make structural adjustments.

Previously, Microsoft also made layoffs in July 2022. The amount was 1% of the total number of employees at the time, 180,000 across its offices.
