For Nyla Liu, as her stage name is called, the gold medal further fueled her enthusiasm to do even better in the future. Moreover, he left at his own expense.
“The flutter of the red and white song and the Indonesia Raya song resonating in the Maldives further fueled my enthusiasm as an Indonesian woman to be able to achieve even more in the future, even though I went at my own expense. Unfortunately, Nilawaty’s success was not followed by Indonesian male bodybuilding athlete, Edo Apcowo, who fell into the 70kg category. This gold medalist of the XX National Sports Week (PON) 2020 had to settle for a bronze medal. The gold medal went to Indian bodybuilder T Ramakrishna and the silver went to Myanmar athlete Ye Tun Naung.
With this result, Nilawaty and Edo, who are athletes from Papua, are listed as the first outstanding athletes who were sent by the Central Board of Indonesian Bodybuilding Association (PP PBFI).
“Nilawaty and Edo Apcowo are recorded in history as female fitness athletes and the first bodybuilding athletes sent by PBFI to successfully give gold and bronze medals at the 2022 Asian Bodybuilding Championship. And, PP PBFI is grateful to be able to present 1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal for the people of Indonesia,” said PP PBFI General Chairman Irwan Alwi who immediately led the Indonesian bodybuilding team.
