Badminton News: 22-year-old Malaysian Ng Tze Yong ended his title wait this season on Sunday by winning the Bahrain International Challenge 2022 title.
After losing the second set to 2022 World Junior Champions Chinese Taipei, world number 27 Ng Tze Yong was best in the third set to take the title with a 21-15, 20-22, 21-12 win .
It is Ng’s first senior title of the season after finishing second in the 2022 Commonwealth Games championship in a loss to Indian badminton star Lakshya Sen.
In the men’s doubles, after defeating first seed Krishna Prasad Garaga/Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala of India 21-16, 16-21, 21-15 in the semi-finals, the unseeded pair of Indonesia, Muhammad Rayhan Nur Fadillah/Rahmat Hidayat of Indonesia built momentum in the final to beat second seeds Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn/Nanthakarn Yordphaisong of Thailand 21-13, 21-17 in the final.
The women’s singles competition keeps 15-year-old Thai Pitchamon Opatniputh unstoppable as world number one junior.
The young world number 120 beat world number 119 Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo of Indonesia 21-17, 21-16 to win the women’s singles title.
Ruttanapak Oupthong/Jhenicha Sudjaippararat won a second title for the Thai team beating India’s Reddy B. Sumeeth/Maneesha K in the mixed doubles final 22-20, 21-17.
Meanwhile, Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto made up for Team Indonesia’s disappointment in women’s singles by beating No. 1 seed in women’s doubles Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand Pullela 21-18, 21-16 to win Bahrain International Challenge 2022.
