Hidayatullah.com—Mathura Police on Monday charged a man and several “unidentified” people with forcing a Muslim man by abusing his community to chant the slogans “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” (Victory for Mother India) in Farah area.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, several youths appear to surround a young Muslim man who was going to collect animal feed in the Thana Farah Mathura area of the Dharmapura Canal. He was forced to shout slogans Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Jai Hindu (Victory of Hindustan).
Referring to the racist murder case at Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, Rajasthan, the Hindu youths accused him of being a traitor. The attacker made a video of the incident and it went viral on social media, the page wrote. India time.
In fact, the victim claimed to have forgotten the incident to maintain brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims. According to multiple sources, Mubeen, a resident of Ol Village, was at the time going to collect animal feed from the banks of Dharmapura Canal (Agra Canal) on Sunday. However, youths from Dharmapura village stopped Mubeen in the canal and harassed him.
Chief Inspector of Rajkamal Police Station said a case was registered as a complaint in which a young Muslim man, Mubeen as a victim, and a suspect were also arrested.
The First Information Report (FIR) is registered under Section 295 A, where it reads: “a willful and malicious act intended to irritate the religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or beliefs religions” and section 505(2) regarding “statements by who creates or promotes enmity, hatred or ill will between classes”, as well as section 67 (publication or transmission of obscene material in electronic form ) of the Information Technology Act against Defendant, Chandraveer, et al.
The victim in her complaint alleges that she was arrested by Chandraveer on her way to Dharampura Canal. He accused Chandraveer of using “indecent language” against his community and beating him.
“Chandraveer made a video of the incident and uploaded it to social media,” he said. However, the FIR does not mention any section relating to the use of force.
Chief Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhishek Yadav said the suspect was arrested registering a case of inciting religious sentiment in the case of forced chanting. “The peace of the neighborhood can never be disturbed. Anyone who attempts to do so will be dealt with firmly,” he said.
As known, the slogan “Bharat Mata ki Jai” is one of the symbols of India and was widely accepted and used during the struggle for independence of this most populous country in the world. Literally, this slogan can be translated as “Long live Mother India” or “Victory for Mother India”.
Unfortunately, this slogan is currently being used by radical Indian Hindu groups to coerce religious minorities as a form of pressure to show Indian nationalism.*
