Ghe big philatelic event of the year, the Principality of Monaco welcomes MonacoPhil 2022held until November 26 on the Terrasses de Fontvieille.
On this occasion, the Museum of Stamps and Currency exhibits one hundred rare and emblematic philatelic stamps and documents, particularly from the collections of Prince Albert II and the Royal Philatelic Collection, as well as from foreign national postal museums.
Two thematic exhibitions were presented: one highlighting India; the other is devoted to the postal history of the Grande Armée of Napoleon Iuh.
Espace Léo-Ferré welcomed about fiftypostal administration and special merchantswhich allows philatelists to enrich their collections or get the latest novelties.
For its part, the Stamp Issuing Office (OETP) selling five new gigs:
– MonacoPhil 2022 block with Napoleon I themeuh and his meeting with Honoré V;
– Block of joint philatelic issues between Monaco and the South of France and the Antarctic Lands (TAAF) with the theme of Albert Iuhblock to be marketed in “TAAF” version in Standing territory ;
– Block tribute to Queen Elizabeth II;
– Stamp for the tenth anniversary of the Princess-Charlene-of-Monaco Foundation;
– A stamp on the mission in the Indian Ocean from the exploration of Monaco.
Four limited edition souvenir inserts were also distributed:
– The first, numbered, contains the MonacoPhil 2022 block (printing: 3,500 copies);
– The second, square, features numbered sheets produced in intaglio consisting of a portrait of Prince Albert Iuh and a block dated four stamps (2,600 copies);
– The third insert is devoted to a joint issue between Monaco and TAAF. Contains blocks each of the two postal administrations (2,000 copies);
– The fourth insert offers a retrospective of the issue of postage relating to the centenary of the loss of Prince Albert Iuha numbered sheet showing postage stamps issued in 2021 and 2022 in the unpunched version, as well as an intaglio engraving by Albert Iuh (2,000 copies).
Will all these relatively low drawdowns encourage speculation?… That remains to be seen.
