The visit of Mr. Ignazio Cassis, Member of the Federal Council, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs, to China and India next month cannot be aimed at holding a conference on the Ukrainian peace formula announced in Lohn and Davos. But let's just stop at this agenda. In the context of this conference, the FDFA would like to call on both countries to intervene with the Russian Federation to promote peace.

Initially, the analysis of the conflict in Beijing and New Delhi was very different from our analysis. China, Russia's “unlimited” ally, is wedded to ideas such as respect for territorial integrity and state sovereignty. But in the Ukrainian affair, he accepted the Russian version according to which the West will provoke Russia, and will not interfere in Russia's 2021 proposals regarding security in Europe: in this way, he maintains his influence. in particular in Moscow, while acting coldly towards Ukraine establishing diplomatic relations with Ukraine. And Switzerland is not the first country to ask Beijing to work quietly to moderate Russia's belligerent side: America and France have already done this on their side last year.
