Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie meets Japanese and Indian ministers and discusses digital economy

Jakarta: The Government of the Republic of Indonesia is seeking to increase cooperation with various countries to strengthen commitments on three priority issues of the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) of India’s G20 Presidency in 2023.

Communications and Information Technology Minister Budi Arie Setiadi hopes that through bilateral meetings, Indonesia can discuss strategic issues related to the DEWG discussion.

“Earlier, we held a bilateral meeting with Japan’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Taro Kono, accompanied by Minister of Interior, Tsuge Yoshifumi. Also, with India’s Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw as host,” said the Minister of Communication and Information.

“As members of the Indian G20 Presidency Troika, we convey our views on strategic issues, including three priority issues which are part of the document resulting from the DEWG agreement,” he said. at a meeting held in Bangalore, India.

According to the Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie, during the meeting, all discussed issues relating to the digital economy. The Minister of Communication and Informatics hopes that the meeting can strengthen the good relations between the member countries of the G20 and of course facilitate common views.

“The bottom line is about digital public infrastructure, digital capabilities to prepare the workforce, and finally security in the digital economy sector,” he said.

The Minister of Communication and Information said that India will open cooperation opportunities with all G20 member countries. According to him, the bilateral meeting that took place today is an event for the Ministry of Communication and Informatics to exchange experiences.

“We always want and must work with all countries, because all these countries have experiences or best practices where we can exchange ideas. We need to learn from each other from these countries, which we will expand the discussion on later,” he said.
