Meta AI, the company's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, has started rolling out in India. The chatbot will be available on all Meta-owned platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, as well as on the meta.ai website. The chatbot is powered by the company's Llama 3 Large Language Model (LLM), launched in April. The social media giant also launched its Meta AI chatbot in several countries just days after the launch of the new AI model.
In the newsroom job, Meta announced the launch of its AI chatbot in India. Although this feature has started rolling out in the country, it will still be a few days before it can be seen by everyone.
Although the company has not explained the reason for the delayed launch in India, it is believed to be due to the ongoing general elections in the country. With the launch, users will immediately see a blue-pink ring in the Meta app's search bar. Tapping on it will take users to the AI in a separate chat, where users can communicate, ask questions, or generate images. On WhatsApp, AI can also be added to groups and interact with reported messages. Specifically, Meta AI can access Google and Bing to answer questions requiring a web search.
Meta claims that AI can be used to recommend specific restaurants, plan trips, help with homework, write code, get a quick overview of a wide variety of topics, as well as generate emails, messages, letters, essays and much more.
In addition to accessing it in a dedicated chat, users can also use it by scrolling through posts on Facebook. Each message will be accompanied by a Meta AI asked icon, which you can tap to get more information about the content of the post. Currently, this feature is available for free and users only need an account on one of the Meta platforms to access it.
