Marin successfully wins Hyderabad against Bengaluru in India BPL

LigaSports – Badminton News: Rio 2016 Olympic gold medalist Carolina Marin successfully led her team Hunters Hyderabad to defeat Bengaluru Blasters team in the Indian Badminton Premier League competition held on Saturday ( 7/1) evening, local time.

Carolina Marin managed to beat Bengaluru Blasters representative Ashwini Ponnappa with three games 9-11, 11-5 and 11-8 in the deciding match of the fifth match. With this victory, Hyderabad moved to third place in the Indian Premier Badminton League rankings.

Even though Ponnappa managed to win the first match, he could not maintain his pattern of play, Ponnappa did not anticipate the Spaniard's aggressiveness when he made too many errors in the next two matches , so Marin was able to quickly take advantage of the situation and return to his best performance and win the match.

The spectators at the Stadium were shocked when they saw Ponnappa playing in women's singles against a very experienced player, Carolina Marin. This Bengaluru player is known as a women's doubles specialist, but given her match against Marin, she could be an alternative for the Badminton Association of India (BAI) if its star players such as PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal cannot play.

However, after losing in the first match, Bengaluru managed to level the score at 1-1 after their representatives who played in mixed doubles, Ko Sung Hyun/Sikki Reddy pair managed to beat Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Carolina pair Marin in two consecutive games. 11-9 and 11-7.

World number three badminton men's singles player Victor Axelsen managed to give his Bengaluru Blasters team a 2-1 lead as he managed to beat Hunters Hyderabad representative Sai Praneeth in two straight games 11-5 and 11-6.

Hyderabad managed to level the score at 2-2 after men's doubles Tan Boon/Tan Wee managed to beat Bengaluru Blasters' representatives Yoo Yeon Seong/Sung Hyun with 1-5, 11-8. Before finally Carolina Marin, who played the fifth match, secured the victory for Hyderabad with a final score of 3-2.
