MotoGP News: Marco Bezzecchi has admitted he dedicated his historic Indian MotoGP win to his recently deceased friend Filippo Mometto.

Marco Bezzecchi has been officially crowned the winner of the Indian MotoGP, a series that has just entered the racing calendar. He has made Mooney VR46 and also team owner Valentino Rossi proud.

Bezzecchi is of course proud of his achievements on the Buddh circuit. After the race, he admitted to dedicating his main podium to his compatriot Filippo Mometto.

For your information, Mometto is also from Italy and both participate in motorcycle racing competitions. A few days ago, the 24-year-old rider was found dead at his home.

Coincidentally, Bezzecchi and Mometto are the same age and are from the same generation, so they know each other after meeting several times during competitions.

“I am very happy, it is perhaps the most interesting victory so far. These days do not go easily, I could have won yesterday, but today could be even better,” Bezzecchi said, as quoted by Paddock-GP.

“I dedicate this victory to Filippo Mometto, my friend, a CIV (Italian National Championship) rider, who died a few days ago at his home, and to his entire family,” explained his teammate Luca Marini.

Furthermore, Marco Bezzecchi felt very relieved to be able to win again after his last victory in mid-May.

“I felt comfortable on this track straight away, I tried to be as fast as possible up front so as not to have any tyre pressure problems,” he said.

Bezzecchi is also happy because he can close the gap with his two rivals in the 2023 MotoGP riders' standings and join the fight for the championship title.

“I can manage the tyres, I'm using softs like most of the others and I'm very happy. I can also brake better, I can approach Pecco (Bagnaia) and Martin in this situation,” said the VR46 Academy graduate.

“The bike is behaving well, physically, if the new bike is good there are fewer problems, but the problem is that everyone is surprised by the heat here. I think last Friday's test session was the most difficult of my career,” he concluded.
