TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Calendar of badminton tournaments Malaysian Open 2022 will take place all week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This Super 750 level event will start from Tuesday June 28 to Sunday July 3, 2022.
Indonesia initially sent 19 representatives. However, three pairs of men’s doubles withdrew due to injury or fitness issues. Majority of the sent players are part of the Indonesia Open 2022 squad to be held this month.
Since the number of men’s singles, the four representatives of Indonesia have faced various opponents. Two star players, namely Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and jonathan christi, both face representatives of India. Meanwhile, Tommy Sugiarto will take on Kenta Nishimoto, while Shesar Hiren Rhustavito will meet Rasmus Gemke.
In women’s singles, Indonesia sent only two representatives, namely Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Fitriani. Gregoria had to cross a steep road, which had to face the first seed, Akane Yamaguchi, in the first round.
In the men’s doubles, Indonesia are down to three representatives after Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin were canceled due to injuries.
Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan both faced the hosts, while Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana immediately qualified for the second round as they were scheduled to face Pramudya/Yeremia.
Indonesia sent three women’s doubles representatives, namely Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi and Febby Valencia Dwijayanti Gani/Ribka Sugiarto.
In mixed doubles, Indonesia have four representatives, one of which is the fifth seed, namely Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva Oktavianti.
