Liputan6.com, Jakarta – LG Electronics announced on Monday (05/09/2022) that it has launched the LG Art Lab non-fungible token (NFT) platform, which allows users to discover, buy, sell and trade NFTs using LG smart TVs.
The announcement comes about eight months after LG Electronics said at its press conference that it plans to include the feature NFT in his smart TV.
The platform is now available in the US only for LG TV users running webOS 5.0 or later and can be accessed directly from the home screen.
LG Electronics has partnered with the Hedera network to offer an app that allows users to purchase NFT through Wallypto, LG’s crypto wallet for smartphones.
Chris Jo, senior vice president, head of platform business at home entertainment company LG Electronics, said Wallypto, built on Hedera, has been growing since September 2021.
The partnership between Hedera and LG Electronics began in 2020 when LG joined Hedera’s board of directors which includes Google, IBM, Deutsche Telekom and the Indian Institute of Technology, and more.
“While many people have heard of NFT and want to participate in the burgeoning ecosystem, it can become too complex and difficult to get started,” Jo said as quoted by Yahoo Finance on Monday, September 5, 2022.
