KARANGANYARNEWS – Malaysia plans to launch the MEASAT-3d (Malaysia East Asia Satellite) satellite on Thursday, June 23, 2022 the day after tomorrow.
According to the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) of Malaysia, Dr. Adham Baba, the launch of the MEASAT-3d communication satellite will be able to connect remote areas of the country with a 4G network, before be upgraded to 5G.
“This satellite will connect areas that were previously not connected via the Internet and will serve for 15 years as a communication satellite in space,” he said, as quoted by Bernama on Monday, June 20, 2022.
The communications satellite is the most comprehensive and complex in MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd’s current fleet, based on Airbus’ Eurostar 3000 satellite platform.

MEASAT-3d is expected to be launched using an Ariane 5 rocket and the launch site is at the European Space Agency in Kourou, French Guiana.
The satellite, built by Airbus Defense and Space, will connect millions of people to broadband. And the technology will replace the old MEASAT satellite and be placed in a 91.5 degrees East orbital slot with its predecessors, MEASAT-3a and MEASAT-3b.
The communications satellite is believed to be able to provide additional capacity for video distribution in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as provide satellite broadband to areas with limited networks or networks throughout Malaysia.
