Labor Minister Hubertus Heil campaigns in India for German nurses. “I am happy that so many young people want to come to Germany as nurses. And they have a realistic image of Germany,” said the SPD politician on Thursday in Thiruvananthapuram, south India.
There he met a trained nurse who was planning to go to Germany. “They know what the strengths of our country are,” said Heil. But they also gave him some homework.
German is of great concern to young people. They found that the required language level was too high. “I will take him, but I can’t promise anything. The requirements are very high for two reasons,” said Heil.
Labor Minister Heil visited India, the world’s most populous country with around 1.4 billion people, on the one hand because of the migration of skilled workers and on the other hand because of the upcoming G20 labor ministers summit at Indore in Madhya Pradesh state. India is leading the key G20 countries this year and the main summit will be held in the capital, New Delhi, in September. (dpa)
