Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic was crowned Miss World at the prestigious pageant in India on Saturday evening.
Yasmina Zaytoun from Lebanon was the first runner-up among 112 participants in the competition held in Mumbai, the financial and entertainment capital of India.
“Being crowned Miss World is a dream come true. “I feel very honored to be able to represent my country and its values of 'beauty with a purpose' on a global platform,” said Pyszkova.
After the reigning Miss World, Karoline Bielawska of Poland, presented her with the crown, Pyszková greeted a large crowd at the Jio World Convention Center and hugged several other contestants.
The event showcases India's rich culture, traditions, heritage, arts and crafts and textiles to a wide global audience. The participants wear beautifully embroidered skirts and blouses and dance to popular Bollywood songs.
Beauty pageants are returning to India for the first time in 28 years.
