Jakarta

Hyojeong Park or better known as Mhyochi Line, is a YouTubers and a Twitch streamer from South Korea who made news because he was harassed by two men while broadcasting live in Mumbai, India. How did the local authorities react?

As reported, Mhyochi was harassed on his way to his hotel just before midnight. He was kissed and shot on a motorcycle, but was able to escape with the help of local residents.

Initially, Mhyochi did not report the matter to the police. However, as soon as the video went viral on social media, the police immediately arrested the two perpetrators, even though there was no connection.

“I didn’t have the mental capacity to go to the police station after that because it was already midnight. I felt bad and I didn’t know how,” Mhyoci said.

The incident reportedly prompted the South Korean Embassy in India to appeal to Korean citizens in India not to travel at night for their safety. In response, a Foreign Office spokesman said he was unaware.

“This case continues to develop. He (Mhyoci-red) will receive all the attention and protection that local authorities need. If there are other cases involving consular aspects, we will certainly be involved in them,” said the spokesperson, quoted detikINET from TimesNow.

Also, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said women feel safe in Mumbai. “Women walk alone at night in Mumbai because they know they are safe. Firm action will be taken against the perpetrators,” he said.
