Badminton News: Former world number one Kidambi Srikanth defeated Kartikey Gulshan Kumar to advance to the men’s singles semi-finals at the 84th Indian National Senior Badminton Championships in Pune on Sunday.

Second seed Kidambi Srikanth is the only top-eight seed to advance to the last four and is a chance for the player to end his three-year wait for a title.

Meanwhile, Priyanshu Rajawat defeated Kiran George, who beat top seed HS Prannoy the day before, in back-to-back matches.

On the women’s side, Ashmita Chaliha and Aakarshi Kashyap entered the semi-finals in contrasting styles. Ashmita beat Isharani Baruah 21-10, 21-23, 21-16 while Aakarshi ended the challenge of 13th seed Purva Barves of Pune with a verdict of 11-21, 21-13, 21-14 .
