Kia India has announced the recall of 44,174 units of its latest ‘Carens’ model to check and fix a potential bug in the airbag control module software. “As a responsible company, the company has decided to voluntarily recall the vehicle for inspection and, if necessary, a software update will be provided free of charge,” the automaker said in a statement.
A voluntary recall campaign is underway to check for potential errors in the airbag control module software at Carens, he added. The company said it would be contacting affected vehicle owners directly to inform them of this voluntary recall campaign.
Affected vehicle customers should contact their respective Kia Authorized Dealers to schedule an appointment. Kia India launched this model, which is offered with six and seven seats, in February this year.
The Carens is powered by three engines – a 1.5 liter petrol engine, a 1.4 liter petrol engine and a 1.5 liter diesel engine, which is available with three transmission options.
