President Joko Widodo congratulate Indonesian men’s doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto on winning the title Malaysian Open 2023.
“Indonesian badminton players who are currently ranked first in the men’s doubles world rankings, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, have successfully won the Malaysia Open 2023 title,” Jokowi posted on his official Twitter.
“From Indonesia, I congratulate Fajar/Rian, the coaches and the Indonesian badminton team,” continued Jokowi.
Fajar/Rian, who were able to rank number one in the world at the end of 2022, managed to start 2023 with good results. They won the Malaysian Open, the opening tournament of this year’s BWF Tour.
Fajar/Rian managed to win the Malaysia Open after defeating Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang in the final. Fajar/Rian won via a rubber game duel that ended 21-18, 18-21, 21-13.
“I dedicate this first title to Indonesia, to PBSI, to the coaches, to all the teams and to the family. Also to all the friends and supporters who continue to support us,” Fajar said as quoted in the PBSI statement. .
“The significance of this champion certainly adds to our motivation to keep bringing achievements to Indonesia,” he continued.
Victory at the Malaysian Open 2023 should boost Fajar/Rian’s confidence for future tournaments. In January, there will always be the India Open and the Indonesian Masters.
