President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held bilateral meetings with a number of heads of state on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Germany, including one with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Strengthening cooperation in the food sector was one of the topics discussed during the meeting.
“Regarding food trade-related cooperation between the two countries, I will request the Minister of Commerce of Indonesia to communicate immediately with the Minister of Commerce of India,” Jokowi said in a written statement from the Office of the press, media and information of the president. Secretariat, Monday (27/6)./2022).
The situation in Ukraine was also mentioned by Jokowi and Modi. Jokowi again called for an immediate end to the war.

“I am happy that Indonesia and India have more or less the same position, including the push for a peaceful settlement,” Jokowi said.
Furthermore, Jokowi expressed his gratitude for India’s support for the Indonesian G20 Presidency. Indonesia will also fully support India’s G20 Presidency next year.
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Arif Havas Oegroseno also accompanied Jokowi during the bilateral meeting with Modi.
