Jokowi entrusts this mandate to India to continue the presidency of the G20

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) handed over the leadership of the presidency G20 next to India. Jokowi gave the Indian Prime Minister the mandate to sustain and achieve global recovery.

“I would also like to congratulate India, which will continue to lead the next G20 Presidency. The mandate to sustain and achieve global recovery and the pursuit of strong and inclusive growth rests in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi” , Jokowi said at the close of the conference. G20 Summit in Bali, Wednesday (16/11/2022).

Jokowi believes the G20 will continue to evolve under India’s leadership. Jokowi said Indonesia stands ready to provide support.

“I am sure that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the G20 will continue to move forward. As a friend of India and a member of the troika, Indonesia stands ready to support the success of India’s G20 Presidency. I also ask all G20 leaders who are there to support India next year,” he said.

Jokowi then handed over the reins of the G20 presidency to India. It also marked the end of Indonesia’s G20 presidency.

“Marking the end of Indonesia’s G20 Chairmanship, I am officially handing over the reins to India as Chairman G20 then,” he explained.

In addition, Jokowi said Indonesia’s G20 Presidency has been looking for various solutions. This was also marked by the ratification of the G20 Bali declaration.

“While the presidency G20, Indonesia has strived to find the best solutions during its years of leadership. Alhamdulillah today we can adopt and ratify the declaration of the G20 leaders in Bali. This is the first statement that can be made since February 2022,” Jokowi said.

“I express my highest gratitude to everyone present who showed flexibility so that the declaration could be accepted and ratified,” he added.
