This will begin with the exhibition “Jāṅgala, in the heart of the Indian jungle” at the Bordeaux Museum, which will run from 22 February 2023 to 17 September 2023.
This exhibition invites you to explore India, its forests and the ecosystems that surround them. The immersive scenography will allow visitors to discover the animal species that are subject to incredibly diverse, rich, and sometimes abundant ecosystems. Several emblematic species from Kipling’s “The Jungle Book” will become threads for young audiences through the four natural environments presented: arid plains, forest edges, humid tropical forests, and the foothills of the vast Himalayan chain.
The journey will continue in the open spaces of the Botanical Gardens, both in the Historic Botanical Gardens in the Public Park and in the Bastide Botanical Gardens.
The route will start with spring, in April 2023, and will also end in late September 2023. It will highlight examples of Indian flora from its collection, flora which is home to an extraordinary biodiversity. Thanks to an ethnobotanical approach, visitors will be able to explore this relationship between humans and plants: their dietary, medicinal, aesthetic and religious uses.
