The 53 newly arrived international students participated in a number of educational programs at ITS. Among others, 39 students participated in the student exchange program, 8 students participated in the internship program, and another 6 students were enrolled as degree students at ITS.

ITS Global Partnerships Directorate (DKG) Senior Director of International Promotion and Mobility, Octaviyanti Dwi Wahyurini, revealed that in the two years of the pandemic, ITS was only accepting international or overseas students in line. Now that the pandemic has subsided, ITS has once again opened a program for international students to take offline.
Last semester, just after the Indonesian border opened, ITS only accepted 14 international students. However, since foreign travel regulations are currently more flexible, this semester more foreign students may be accepted. “Students come from various countries such as Malaysia, France, Denmark, Germany, Syria, India, Japan, and also Finland,” he said in a press release on Monday. 09/12/2022.
Oyin, his nickname, explained that the students who participated in student exchanges registered through the nomination of the partner universities of the ITS. Then, for students with complete study programs at ITS, register via the simad.its.ac.id page. After being officially registered, the students participated in the orientation activities at the ITS which took place on August 24th.

For registered students who participate in the student exchange program, they will later undergo activities for one semester. Then for the internship program, students will do internships in their respective departmental laboratories.
“Then, for those who follow the full course, there are the students of S2 and S3, of whom only two people follow the joint or double degree course”, explains the teacher from the Design Visual Communication Department (DKV).
He continued, the department where international students do internships and student exchanges at ITS is part of the Department of Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Materials Engineering and Metallurgy, engineering physics and environmental engineering. In addition, there is the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (PWK), Geophysical Engineering, Visual Communication Design (DKV), Interior Design, Business Management, Development Studies, electrical engineering and computer engineering.
Oyin said several international students have arrived in Surabaya since mid-August. As one of the excellent services provided by ITS DKG, the student was picked up by ITS Global Engagement volunteers at Juanda International Airport. “The students looked very happy and excited when they arrived in Indonesia,” he said.
