Indonesia without representatives in 2024 Indian Open semi-finals

Badminton News: The Indonesian badminton team must grit their teeth again in a prestigious tournament. Most recently, Pelatnas' team failed to win the title in the India Open World Tour Super 750 tournament after the two remaining representatives had to fail in the quarterfinals.

The world number 6 men's doubles pair, Fajar Alfian Muhammad/Rian Ardianto, are the latest representatives to appear in the quarter-finals of the 2024 India Open.

But unfortunately, the reigning All England champion had to admit the superiority of the South Korean world champion Kang Min Hyuk / Seo Seung Jae in two fairly easy consecutive matches with a score of 14-21 and 18-21, in a match which took place at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi, India, Friday (19/1), local time.

The loss allowed Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae to surpass Fajar/Rian in the head-to-head record with a 5-3 position in eight total meetings.

The last meeting between the two pairs took place in the group stage of the 2023 BWF World Tour Finals with a draw of 20-22, 21-17 and 12-21 for South Korea to win.

With this result, there was no Indonesian representative in the semi-finals of the India Open 2024 tournament after the other representative, in men's singles, ranked 4th in the world, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, had to admit the superiority of his great rival from Hong Kong, Lee Cheuk. Yiu in a close rubber match with a score of 17-21, 21-18 and 13-21 in 1 hour and 5 minutes.

This is the second time this year that the Red and Whites have failed to win the title after last week, at the Malaysian Open Super 1000, they also failed to secure a single representative for the last square.
