Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia won two gold medals at the sixth edition of the Asia-Pacific Deaf Badminton Championships held in Pattaya Chonburi, Thailand from September 14-21. The first gold medal was obtained by Ilyas Rachman Ryandhani of the men’s singles number after beating his compatriot Edi Susanto in the final round.
Ilyas again presented the gold medal in the men’s doubles with Edi Susanto after beating host pair Thailand 21-19 and 22-20. “The group stage struggle was difficult but we tried to get through it with passion. In fact, the preparation (for the championship) was very sudden and I only trained independently with Ilyas at the Garuda club” , Edi told ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Asia Pacific Deaf Badminton 2022 will see the participation of seven countries, namely India, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Malaysia. Meanwhile, Indonesia fielded 10 representatives in the championship. Besides Ilyas and Edi, there were also Dzakiyah A Maruf, Ghaniah Fadlatun Nisa and Muhamad Enrico Rasyadan.
