That indigo Airbus A320 (VT-IJY) operated as 6E-905 from Raipur to Indore.
All passengers were able to disembark safely, the PTI news agency reported.
Smoke was reportedly detected from the cabin during taxiing after landing.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has contacted the airline for details of the incident.
The incident came to light after the SpiceJet aviation authority issued a notice of good cause following eight incidents of technical malfunctions involving the airline’s aircraft over the past 18 days.
Three such incidents were reported on Tuesday itself. While a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Dubai had a suspected fuel leak and landed safely in Karachi, the other flight from Kandla to Mumbai suffered a crack in the plane’s outer windshield when the turboprop cruised at 23,000 feet.
The third incident involved a SpiceJet cargo plane that was scheduled to fly from Kolkata to Chongqing in China and returned to Kolkata due to an inoperative weather radar.
In addition, a Vistara Airbus A320 developed an engine snag after landing at Delhi Airport on Tuesday. The plane had to be towed to the parking lot.
A Vistara spokesman said: “After landing in Delhi on 5 July 2022, our flight UK122 (BKK-DEL) experienced a minor electrical malfunction while steering to the parking bay. With the safety and comfort of the passengers in mind, the crew decided to tow the aircraft into the bay.”
The DGCA is also investigating this incident.
