Chengdu [China]4 October (ANI): India’s three-match unbeaten men’s table tennis team ended after losing to France in their fourth Group 2 match on Tuesday.
India defeated France 3-0. After this defeat, India’s chances of qualifying for the round of 16 are getting smaller. They are now relying on the ups and downs of other groups to qualify further.
Manav Thakkar starts proceedings for India and faces Lebrun Alexis. His French opponent had no trouble avoiding India’s challenge in three consecutive sets 6-11, 8-11, 8-11. Manav offered some competitiveness in the last two sets, but it was not enough to win the match.
With this, India led 0-1 in the match.
In the next game, India’s top-ranked player Sathiyan Gnanasekaran is next in line, hoping to equalize for India. Lebrun Félix is his opponent. Gnanasekaran looked unremarkable for the most part and lost the match in straight sets 2-11, 4-11, 6-11.

India was in big trouble, losing 0-2 in that game. They need a win to recover.
Harmeet Desai is next for India in this pivotal game, facing Rolland Jules. Desai started well by winning the first set 13-11. However, their opponents once again turned things around in France’s favor by winning the next game 11-13. Desai took the lead after leading 11-7 in the third set. But the Indian lost in the last two sets 8-11, 7-11 and lost 2-3 in the match.
France managed to blow up the Indian team and ensured their place in the round of 16.
Prior to this match, the Indian men’s team had recorded victories against Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Germany.
