In what can be described as a historic moment for Indian sports, rower Balraj Panwar secured his country's first quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics during the Asian Olympic qualifiers in South Korea on Sunday. Panwar finished third in the men's individual event with a time of 7:01:27 in the 2000 meters event.
The mixed pair of Para Rowers, Narayana Konganapalle and Anita also secured their place at the Paris 2024 event. The duo recorded a time of 7:50:80 to take part in the competition. Unfortunately, the team of Arvind Singh and Ujjwal Kumar could not qualify despite their impressive performance in the men's lightweight double sculls event. Only two of these categories meet the Paris 2024 quota.
