Two executives of the ruling party in India, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have warmed the atmosphere in this Central Asian country because of remarks broadcast on television and on social networks.
In addition to news about Indian politicians insulting the Prophet Muhammad, other news that has caught the eye is the country’s change of name from Turkey.
Here is some news from the past 24 hours, which is summarized this morning in CNNIndonesia.com’s International Kilas:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Spokesperson Nupur Sharma and BJP Media Operations Chief Delhi Naveen Kumar Jindal posted comments insulting the Prophet Muhammad and his wife Aisyah.
Sharma hurled insults at the Prophet Muhammad during a TV talk show last week. Meanwhile, Jindal allegedly tweeted a message which was also an insult to the lord of the Muslim community.
The remarks sparked clashes in the Indian state and sparked protests against demands for party spokespersons.
Two Indian politicians who insulted the Prophet Muhammad have been sentenced to suspension from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal received different punishments. Sharma was suspended as a senior party member, while Jindal was expelled.
The remarks of the two members of the BJP party caused a stir, not only in the country but also in Arab countries.
