Badminton News: One of India’s best women’s doubles badminton players, G. Jwala, who founded the Jwala Gutta Academy of Excellence at Sujatha School (Moinabad) around three years ago, has decided to diversify into various sporting disciplines with women’s cricket as a branch. , a major initiative in this area.
“Yes, if you notice, we didn’t start the Academy as just a badminton academy. “It is a center of excellence where we strive to cultivate young talents from different age groups (boys and girls) and make them champions,” Jwala said after the Academy officially launched its Women’s Cricket Development Program here on Monday.
“There is so much potential and interest in women’s cricket and we aim to provide the best infrastructure and training by having international coaches for this,” he said.
“Because our academy is a residential academy with a school on its campus, thanks to Sujatha School, young talents will be trained by professional coaches. There is no age limit and we are also considering accepting some of those who already have a certain level of expertise in cricket,” said Jwala Gutta.
“Yes, given the very encouraging response to badminton, with the state governments of Punjab and Tamil Nadu also sending a large number of women badminton players for long-term training programs at our academies, we expect that women’s cricket gets huge support,” he said.
Detailing the current women’s cricket schedule, Jwala Gutta said registrations would open soon and the full annual session coinciding with the academic year would begin in March-April, Jwala said.
“Having gone through the formative stages of my career, I know what it really takes for a young talent to dream big and achieve their goals,” said the former World Championships medalist.
Meanwhile, Uday Singh, Principal of Sujatha School, said that he is happy to launch the Academic Extra-Curricular Activities Program (ASAAP) in collaboration with Jwala and hopes that this initiative will be a huge success as well as at badminton.
Gutta Kranti, director of Jwala Gutta Academy of Excellence, said initially the admissions would be on a first-come, first-served basis.
“We are also looking at establishing shooting and tennis centers,” he said.
