India will be the leader of the next G20

Preparing for the big meeting to go smoothly, India’s new president, Draupadi Murmu, said discussing global issues would help steer the G20 under his leadership.

“Twenty major countries of the world will exchange ideas on global issues under the leadership of India. I am sure that the conclusions and policies that will emerge from this brainstorming in India will determine the direction of the next decade,” he said in his maiden speech shortly after being sworn in.

He also added that the global community has great aspirations for India in terms of global economic stability, supply chain convenience and peace as stated. NDTV.

India has been a member of the G20 since its inception in 1999. India will hold the G20 Presidency from 1 December 2022 and will host the G20 Leaders Summit for the first time in 2023.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA), Arindam Bagchi, said that during the G20 Presidency, India will organize a large number of events at different levels across the country, including ministerial meetings, working group meetings and special initiatives that each country could undertake at different levels.

India made history on Monday (7/25) when Draupadi Murmu was sworn in as the 15th President of India in a ceremony at the Central Hall of Parliament in New Delhi.

The 64-year-old became India’s second female president and also the first female president of a remote tribe.

He replaces Ram Nath Kovind, whose five-year term has come to an end.

In his inaugural address, Murmu also expressed his hope for young Indians as the next generation.

“I want all our brothers and sisters to be more empowered so that they continue to increase their contribution in all areas of national development. I want to tell the youth of our country that you are not only building your own future, but also laying the foundation for India’s future,” Murmu said.
