India vs South Africa: Irfan Pathan backs Prasish Krishna to do well in second Test

The second Test between India and South Africa will begin on January 3 in Cape Town and India will look to resolve their bowling woes before then.

Prasidh Krishna made a poor Test debut in the first Test between India and South Africa at Centurion, conceding 93 runs for one wicket. He looked completely ill and was unable to replace Mohammed Shami, who was ruled out due to injury. In the end, India lost by an innings and 32 runs.

While many want Mukesh Kumar to sit in Prasidh's place in the second Test, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan feels that Prasidh will be much better in the second match if he gets a chance.

In an interview with Star Sports, Pathan said, “Prasidh Krishna can play much better than in Centurion. The length could be perfect on South African pitches. If you look at the height from which the Rabada bowl is, the Prasidh bowl has the same length, that is, it is full but cannot be mounted. However, this length was not observed during the first test.

Pathan added that Prasidh should try harder. “It looked like he was trying to play crazy deliveries and not hit big shots. If he tries to succeed, he will get more buy-ins. Maybe it was because of the nervousness before the first game. He couldn't adapt, but I hope he can do better if he plays in the second game.

Meanwhile, Avesh Khan was added to the Test squad after his fine performance in IND A against SA A. He could possibly make the squad before Prasidh in the second Test.
