India – United States: Narendra Modi, Joe Biden’s anti-Beijing pick

Between strengthening his alliance against China and human rights, Joe Biden has chosen: priority to first. Barred from entering the Americas before becoming Prime Minister, ultra-nationalist Narendra Modi has the right to an extraordinary “official state visit” and above all the immense complacency (to put it mildly) from a Biden administration.

The Democratic president has never raised the issue of human rights. It was a journalist who took charge, during a press conference, of questioning the Prime Minister of India on accusations of oppression against Muslims and authoritarian deviations issued by many associations as well as by the United Nations. “In India’s democratic values, there is absolutely no discrimination,” answered, contrary to fact, the Prime Minister of India who also had the “honor” of addressing the Congress.

AOC boycotted and defended itself with a press release

Several elected Democrats boycotted the speech, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who explained in a statement: “In 2005, Narendra Modi was refused a visa for violations of religious freedom, including his involvement in anti-Muslim riots that killed more than 1,000 people. India, is ranked 161 e is ranked 180 on the World Press Freedom Index – due to Modi’s attack on the BBC’s India office and his lawsuit against a critical documentary. A joint speech is one of the most prestigious invitations and awards that the United States Congress can give. We must not do this to individuals with particularly troubling human rights records – especially to individuals our State Department has found to be committing systematic human rights violations against religious minorities and oppressed caste communities. »

But for Joe Biden, the “anti-Beijing league” is invaluable for this “mob” dedicated to a Hindu supremacist.
